Beta Down For Emergency Maintenance

Square-Enix just announced the servers will be down for the next 3 hours, from 12:30am to 3:30am EST. Perhaps this heralds a final fix for the 3102 and 90000 errors preventing many of us from playing. I'm hesitantly hopeful, but they haven't divulged the reasons for the maintenance, so as of now any conjecture is purely speculative.

Perhaps we may even get to see an extra day of beta testing tomorrow? Fingers are crossed!

Open Beta dates announced, along with launch information!

The dates for Open Beta were finally announced during today's 8th and final live Letter from the Producer. It looks like we have a whole week to wait in anticipation, but once Open Beta starts it will quickly segway into early access and release! If you are a fan of lists, Eorzeareborn.com had a pretty comprehensive breakdown of all of the details, which I included below.

Open Beta Information

Open Beta starts on August 17th and ends August 19th. However, players who had access to Beta 3 will be able to start Open Beta a day early.
There will be a level 20 cap in Open Beta, but all launch content will be available, including arcanist.
The wolves den (formerly coliseum) version of PVP will be available in a very basic form. No PVP unique abilities yet, but you can test out the basic system.
The La Noscea housing area will be available in Open Beta as a stress test feature.
Everything from Open Beta will carry over to launch.

Early Access and Launch Account Information

Early access begins on August 24th and will run through the launch date of August 27th.
People who bought FFXIV 1.0 will have until September 9th for free access. After September 9th, a paid account will be required.
They will be adding a store-bought game card option for payment choice. This allows people who do not wish to use credit cards or Square Enix crsta to still have access to FFXIV:ARR.
Paid Server Transfers will be available a few weeks after launch.

Information on New Game Systems

Extreme versions are coming for all Primal fights.
Hard Modes are coming for all instanced dungeons
The Libra Eorzea iPhone app will be available possibly a week after launch. This will give access to character information and other things tied to the Lodestone database (item database, instance information, etc.)
Raid Content: Crystal Tower. This will be a 24-person raid environment. It is “not too tough,” and meant to be fun and accessible to nearly everyone.
Raid Content: Great Labyrinth. This will be the hardest content in the game. Some interesting mechanics will be present, players will have to work together with others to overcome some of these mechanics (they mentioned an attack with damage that would have to be spread out across four party members to survive).

Nophica's Oath website goes live!

Welcome adventurers!

After much sweat and toil, I'm proud to announce the first iteration of Nophica's Oath's Free Company website, in all it's nonfunctional glory, is finally up and running! Stay tuned for updates as this beast is tuned into a sleek and easy to navigate machine,
maybe if things finally stop breaking?

Keep your fingers crossed! For now, I'm back to the workbench to try and tackle a few more site related issues. This sums up nicely my success so far.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn - A New Beginning

Get hyped, release withdrawl can't be kept at bay any longer.

A bit of a lore steal on Eorzea from the official website!

Comprised of Aldenard, the westernmost of the Three Great Continents, and its surrounding islands, the realm of Eorzea has been the cradle of several unique civilizations throughout history.Towering mountains dominate the north, their peaks forever lashed with icy winds; to the south, a bleak expanse of unforgiving desert holds sway.Yet these inhospitable lands hold irresistible lure for man and monster alike, for wide and deep flow the currents of aether, and rich are the veins of power-infused crystal. In this harsh though vibrant region, the people of Eorzea have carved out their histories—a cycle of prosperous Astral and disastrous Umbral eras. The First Umbral Era brought an end to the age of the gods, and there have been six such eras of calamity since the First Astral Era ushered in the age of man. Each of the Umbral catastrophes has, in turn, borne the characteristics of one of the six elements. With all the elements now represented, it was believed the current Astral era would last into eternity. But in the seventh verse of the Divine Chronicles, Mezaya Thousand Eyes prophesized a less fortunate fate. The "senary sun," or Sixth Astral Era, would indeed end, and the "septenary moon," or Seventh Umbral Era, would cast its shadow upon the land.
